Honours BA in history (or the equivalent) with a minimum average of 70 percent (B)*
*In practice, because of the competitive nature of admissions, applicants with less than a B+ average are rarely accepted into the Master’s program

Transcripts must cover all courses and programs at any university you have attended, including regular programs (whether completed or not), exchanges, letters of permission, online or correspondence courses, courses taken as a non-degree student or visiting students, etc. If your transcript and degree certificate are not in English or French, you must submit a copy of a certified translation.

Once you've received your offer of admission, if the offer contains any conditions for submitting official documents, you will need to upload them to uoDoc. Some exceptions apply. 

Previous or current Ottawa students do not need to submit a transcript of their studies at the University of Ottawa. Professional programs in rehabilitation require all transcripts, including those from uOttawa.

  • Letter of intent in which you describe the intended field of research as well as your interest and your academic background in Feminist and Gender studies (minimum of two undergraduate level courses or one Master’s level course on women, gender, feminism, sexualities)

Pour les demandes d’admission à la maîtrise, la lettre d’intention (1 à 2 pages) devrait comprendre les
quatre éléments suivants:
1. Projet de recherche: exposez votre projet en détail et précisez l’axe de recherche (national ou
thématique) ainsi que la période historique que vous souhaitez étudier. Énoncez vos objectifs de
recherche de la manière la plus précise possible.
2. Préparation : expliquez de quelle manière votre formation académique et vos aptitudes vous ont
préparé(e) à entreprendre ce projet: aptitudes linguistiques (le cas échéant), cours et séminaires suivis
pendant votre programme de premier cycle, recherche personnelle ou expériences pertinentes.
3. Direction de recherche: les candidats doivent contacter et identifier un directeur de recherche avant de
soumettre leur demande. Veuillez indiquer dans votre lettre d’intention le nom du ou de la
professeur(e) qui serait prêt(e) à diriger votre recherche, si votre demande d’admission était
acceptée.
4. Faites-nous part de vos expériences personnelles qui pourraient être pertinentes pour la demande (par
ex. échange universitaire, travail d’assistant à la recherche, de guide de musée/site historique ou
autres) et expliquez toute « anomalie » dans votre parcours (par ex. des notes basses pendant un
semestre en raison d’une maladie ou d’une absence prolongée pendant vos études, etc.).
